• 2 tbsp margarine

• 1/2 cup red onion

• 2 garlic cloves

• 2 tbsp all purpose flour

• 1 1/4 cup ‘Veggie’ beef bouillon

• 1 tbsp soya sauce

• 1 tbsp nutritional yeast

• 1 tsp maple syrup

• 1/4 tsp ground thyme

• Black pepper to taste

• 1/4 cup Belsoy (or cream 15%)

• 3 tbsp vegetable oil

• 4 Vegeat burgers

• Steak spice

• Garlic powder

• Onion powder

• Ground thyme

STEPS

Gravy
Start by finely chopping your red onion and garlic cloves. Heat a small saucepan over medium-high heat and melt your vegetable margarine. Add the onion and cook for 2 minutes. Add chopped garlic and continue cooking 1 minute more. Sprinkle with flour and mix well with a whisk and cook for 1 minute. Pour veggie beef broth while whisking well. Bring to a boil. When it has reached boiling and the sauce is thickened, reduce the heat to low and then add all the remaining ingredients for the gravy. Whisk one last time and let simmer for 5 minutes or the time it takes to cook The Vegeat burger.

Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat, adding 3 tbsp. vegetable oil. When it is hot, add your VEGEAT burgers then cook following the instructions on the package. Season each side of the burger to taste with the steak spice, garlic and onion powder, dried thyme and black pepper.

Serve patties with gravy, mashed potatoes and green vegetable of your choice.
